Looking at Eli's comments, I realized I need to redo my previous post about this, which I think I took down anyway because I didn't feel it was very solid. I'll look at Senju/Fudo, Senju/Unsho, and Unsho/Unji on Decorative Weapons. ( Read more... ) Fri, Oct. 27th, 2006, 11:29 am Ranger Goals

Anything in parentheses means use them under the given circumstances - either when there are a lot of buffs/debuffs to give really high attack, or I need extra acc like Barrage. With his conclusion that worrying about the problems faced by workers is yet another deluded affectation of the blue-state rich, David Brooks has taught me that I should stop pretending to care about poor people (i.e. 40-60% of Americans) who barely scrape by, and just enjoy being rich thanks to George W. Bush. I don't know how anyone can read this without crying. This is going to be a list of possibly unrelated thoughts about "What's The Matter With Kansas", a place to jot things down as I read. First, someone talk to me about church-malls. I understand what the terms mean individually, but connected they seem like utter gibberish. Fri, May. 26th, 2006, 10:43 am Merits

I'm working on putting together enough data to make a new equation to calculate TP return from delay. If you've got any observations, please post with delay and tp returned over several hits (10 would be great, since tp seems to be rounded to the nearest 1/10th). Also, if you're using dual-wield and dual-wield equipment, either factor it in to the delay, or list which pieces and whether you're main or subjob nin. Below are a few I've found, and a first attempt at the equation.
e.bow with scorps 580 delay 15.2% katana 147 delay 4.3% great katana 450 delay 11.5%
-------------------------- 100 - 4.3 110 - 4.4 119 - 4.4 120 - 4.4 128 - 4.5 130 - 4.5 136 - 4.6 140 - 4.6 150 - 4.7 158 - 4.8 183 - 5.0 (same as pre-patch) 185 - 5.1 (same as pre-patch) 234 - 6.3 (6.2/hit previously, a typical war/nin delay end game) 630 - 15.2 (ranged weapon, previously 13.8/hit) 999 - 17.9 (previously 18.4/hit) Stolen from LucyLittle on KI --------------------------
Delay 0 - 480: (Delay - 180) / 256 * 6 + 5 Delay 480 - 900: (Delay + 480) / 70 Thu, Mar. 30th, 2006, 10:35 am
360 games to look into: TimeShift Farcry Instincts: Evolution Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter I suppose Perfect Dark Zero should go on here as well. I haven't heard anything that's convinced me it's worth the money or my time though.
Much much later: Halo 3 Splinter Cell 4
So far all I've bought for my 360 are Dead or Alive 4 and Burnout: Revenge. While I know these games will keep me busy for several weeks, I'm keeping an eye out for other games to pick up. Toss me any recommendations or comments on the games I already listed.

OPB has an interview that reminds us all that acquired property is subject to income tax (and sold property to sales tax) based on its estimated market value. So potentially, all of us should be filing tax returns on this: thanks to these guys: and all the players who make these items and gil worth real money. Thu, Feb. 9th, 2006, 07:53 pm
What do you do when there's a bomb on the bottom of your brand new Audi and it's about to explode?
A) Get out of the car.
B) Drive off a ramp that flips your car upside down and snag the bomb on a nearby crane hook?
I think the answer's obvious. Thu, Feb. 9th, 2006, 12:05 pm Physics
These arguments make a perverted amount of sense to a physicist. Changing particles more than their standard (probably minimal) quantum movement would probably be a matter of applying more energy. P.S. I know, I need more pictures. I'll get to them soon. Wed, Feb. 8th, 2006, 09:39 am
I've really gotten interested in EVE Online, the idea of it is intriguing. I also think it's a game that would completely consume my life (FFXI isn't at that stage thankfully)... Anyway, I ran across this journal of a player of EVE Online (and it seems several other MMOs) that seems to be really well written, and conveys some of the political tensions I would hope for in a game like EVE Online. The game definitely looks like it's purely space-based. There are thousands of worlds, but I was hoping you'd be able to explore thousands of fully-imagined worlds, fly through their atmosphere, go climb mountains... ok, maybe that was a bit much to expect. In fact, combine all the MMOs out there and they probably don't have enough content-designers and servers to pull off that kind of environment, let alone populate it. But it'd be really frickin cool if they could...
This week started off with an evening of KS99s at Horlais Peak. They went ridiculously well... ( Read more... )Afterwards we went on to do a bunch of gods in Tu'lia. I was kinda in and out that night, but hoping for Genbu's Shield. As it happened, 3 dropped, and I wasn't there for the 3rd (which would've been automatically mine), but I didn't want to push it beforehand because I obviously wasn't able to be there the whole time, so... ( Read more... )The next day, Tiamat popped just before I went there to afk and work. Virgil's mule had been afk dead for over half an hour, unbeknownst to anyone, so StealthVertigo ended up beating us to the pull (Phoenixx, Wagasashi and I put up a valiant effort to hold her, but we could only pull off 6 minutes or so before Tiamat decided to stop fooling around). However, they wiped 3 hours later when I came back from my nap, and we went in to kill her for, hurray, 1 fire crystal! I've been doing Dynamis for longer than I can remember, here are a few highlights from the last 6 months of them or so. First, some middle-aged Dynamis, with a lot of friends I don't see as much at the moment. That Bastok had some good drops, but seeing 3 in the drop pool at once is pretty rare. No one needed that Assassin's Vest, so i got it... and dropped it a month later when I realized it sucked and I don't have the space for full relic for every job at 75.  On a similar note, city Dynami drop too many relics ;; I dunno what SE's thinking. If 100 bills dropped as often as relics, I think we'd be reasonably satisfied.  Now for the relic armor everyone loves... DRG!!!  During that run, we went on to get two more Cleric's Briaults, finishing off almost everyone with whm at 75!  Also, most coins I've ever seen drop at once...  And in the last 3 minutes of Dynamis, we got Ruka a her rdm af, yay. Thankfully no one was afk and we didn't lose it.  Last on this entry, the story of me and Scout's Braccae, The Last Ranger AF!  Yay!  /cry ;;
A list of random suggestions to SE I've been thinking about, and will finally submit today:
1. Make all ranger ammo quiverable, so muling to play the job takes less time than I'm going to be xping for.
2. Allow missions to be redone for unique rewards (mainly for Rajas/Tamas/Sattva and the Arch-Angel earrings). Reasonable difficulty would allow you to erase your memory of the missions (but still keep rewards such as access to certain areas and the items themselves) and have to redo the missions all the way from the beginning. Allowing players to do them in any order would be a nice bonus to encourage players to help people finish CoP and Zilart missions.
3. Ranger accuracy seems bugged. Comparing a lvl 75 ranger with melee jobs such as ninja, the ninja can achieve 95% accuracy using sole sushi (which seems to give the equivalent of +30-40 acc at that level) and +32 acc; however ranger (at optimal damage distance) needs about +60 ranged accuracy and their innate accuracy trait (which seems to give the equivalent of +70 ranged accuracy at this level), about twice the accuracy needed by the ninja, to achieve the same 95% hit rate. It's almost as if their accuracy trait didn't exist for ranged attacks.
4. Change xp rewards so that adding 1 party member 2 levels above the other members doesn't destroy your ability to get reasonable xp. Make xp rewards more in line with how the added member affects your ability to defeat monsters (i.e. 1 person 2 levels higher doesn't affect it much).
Did some hypothesizing about katana damage for various end-game katanas, but I think too little is known about haste and dual-wield, and melee damage, for this to be very accurate. ( Read more... ) |
